Szárma (Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage)

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

• 500 g (1 lb.) minced pork

• 200 g (7 oz) rice

• 100 g (3 1/2 oz) smoked bacon (finely chopped)

• 2,5 – 3 l (10-12 cups) tomato juice or 500 ml (2 cups) tomato purée

• 2 medium-large heads of cabbage

• 2 tablespoons oil or lard

• 2 garlic cloves (crushed)

• 1 big onion (finely chopped)

• 1/2 tablespoon paprika

• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

• 1 – 1 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 2 pinches of ground caraway
