Cream-Filled Choux Buns (Classic Cream Puffs)

Ingredients

For the Choux Pastry:

  • 125 ml water
  • 60 g butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for sweet puffs)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 75 g all-purpose flour
  • 2–3 eggs

For the Cream Filling:

  • 1 cup cold heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    (or use pastry cream if you prefer)

Instructions

Make the Choux Dough

1️⃣ In a saucepan, bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a boil.
2️⃣ Add flour all at once, stir until it forms a smooth dough and pulls from the pan.
3️⃣ Remove from heat, cool 5 minutes.
4️⃣ Add eggs one by one, mixing well until smooth and glossy.

Bake

5️⃣ Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
6️⃣ Pipe or spoon small mounds onto a lined tray.
7️⃣ Bake 25–30 minutes until puffed and golden.
⚠️ Do not open oven while baking.

Fill

8️⃣ Whip cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff.
9️⃣ Slice or poke puffs and fill with cream.
