Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or beef & pork mix)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika

Sauce:

  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup water or broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Boil the whole cabbage until leaves soften. Remove leaves carefully.
  2. Mix ground meat, rice, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place filling on each cabbage leaf, roll tightly, tucking in sides.
  4. Arrange rolls in a pot. Pour sauce over them.
  5. Cover and simmer on low heat 60–75 minutes until tender.
  6. Serve warm.
