🌶️ Hungarian Stuffed Peppers (Töltött Paprika)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prep the Peppers:
Wash and core the peppers, removing seeds and membranes. Set aside.
  2. Make the Stuffing:
In a bowl, mix ground meat, rice (uncooked), chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
  3. Stuff the Peppers:
Fill each pepper with the meat mixture, packing lightly but firmly.
  4. Make the Sauce:
In a pot, heat a tablespoon of oil. Add the tomato purée, sugar, and salt. Stir and bring to a simmer. If using, whisk in a tablespoon of flour for thickness.
  5. Cook the Peppers:
Place stuffed peppers upright into the sauce. If there’s leftover meat, shape into small meatballs and add to the pot. Add water to barely cover the peppers if needed. Simmer on low heat for 45–60 minutes, until rice and meat are cooked.
  6. Optional Finish:
Some sprinkle a touch of extra sweet paprika or sour cream on top when serving.

🥄 Serve with:

Creamy mashed potatoes, crusty bread, or just enjoy them as-is with plenty of sauce!
